Reconciliation and individual support are offered at all of our campuses. We keep you up to date on whats happening with our upcoming events and facilitate any requests that you may have in regards to activities or assistance on campus, spiritual and pastoral needs.
Our Catholic chaplaincy team works in collaboration with the Ecumenical chaplaincy services on all campuses, sharing resources where possible. Through this collaboration, the team is privileged and grateful to be accepted and be visible on campus.
Students studying on all campuses are encouraged to volunteer as Eucharistic Ministers, Readers and Music Ministry for our Tertiary Mass’ at St Patrick’s Cathedral hosted every second Sunday of the month.
University of Auckland and Auckland University of Technology
Students from the University of Auckland (UoA) and Auckland University of Technology (AUT) are fortunate to have their home away from home close by. It is located just 5 minutes from University of Auckland’s School of Law and is less than a 10-minute walk from AUT. 110 Symonds St is the Tertiary Chaplaincies main office with lay chaplains Dom, Olivia and Shana working alongside Fr Chris.
The team also works with the Ecumenical Chaplaincy groups on each campus. At Auckland University Fr Chris and the Chaplaincy teamwork with the Maclaurin Chapel chaplaincy team in regards to graduation ceremonies and memorial services, occasionally sharing their venue for events and together we attend an ecumenical meeting once per month to discuss moral, theological and spiritual issues that may arise within the Auckland University context. The chaplaincy team also works with various Non-Catholic groups on campus during Jesus Week.
The Chaplains: Dom, Olivia, Shana and Fr Chris are all available for students to share their joys and their struggles with. We are here to walk alongside you and support your growth so please don’t hesitate to approach any of us whenever you feel the need.
There is a chapel available to you for quiet reflection, meditation and prayer. A student lounge with comfortable couches, great for relaxing and getting to know more Catholic students. We also offer some kitchen facilities including a microwave, hot water boiler, dishwasher and sink. Coffee and Tea is 50 cents per cup. This small donation goes towards our Tuesday lunch after mass. Hot water is free.
There is free wireless internet in the building available to UoA students only.
The Catholic Club, a club whose members are volunteers as Eucharistic Ministers/Readers/Music Ministry and Commentators and is the meeting ground for Tertiary Vinnies connected with St Vincent De Paul- offering social justice activities and leadership to University students.(Check the Student Clubs tab for more information.) Meetings are held at our offices.
You are most welcome to create your own club and/or to affiliate with the chaplaincy. There are many privileges when your club is affiliated with the chaplaincy so check out the “Catholic Club.” Please feel welcome to sign up for volunteer roles and to make suggestions, throughout the year.
Massey University and UNITEC
Dom, Olivia and Fr Chris are the Catholic Chaplains at Massey University (Albany) and Shana assists Dom and Fr Chris at UNITEC (Point Chev). Where mass is offered on Thursdays. (See mass schedule for more info.)
Manuaku Institute of Technology
At the Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT – Otara Campus), the Auckland Catholic Tertiary Chaplaincy team will no longer be hosting a weekly mass, however, requests are welcome and Fr Aleki of St John the Evangelist Parish across the road from MIT warmly welcomes staff and students for any of your immediate concerns.
